Terms and Conditions

General

• An initial written contract between Whitetree Web Studio and the client will be needed before work can commence. This can take the form of an estimate letter or order form. Subsequent changes to the design etc. can be confirmed either in writing (letter or email) or verbally.
• We will not carry out any work which has not been approved by the client.
• We reserve the right to refuse service to any business, organisation or individual. A letter explaining the reasons for the refusal will be provided.
• All outstanding payments due should be paid within 30 days of the date of the invoice, unless otherwise agreed with Whitetree Web Studio. If payment is not received within 45 days of the invoice date without prior agreement, we reserve the right to shutdown the website and all email accounts until payment has been made. Reactivation of any shutdown website will result in another setup fee of £25 - payable in advance.
• We reserve the right to change these terms and conditions at any time, without notice, by posting changes online.

Website Design

• Each website produced must have a minimum of three pages. There is no maximum limit on how many pages the client can have.
• If you do not require hosting or a domain name, we can provide your website on CD for an additional one off fee of £50. Please note that any website we produce should not be copied, reproduced, or re-sold in any way as we retain the copyright to the design, images and scripts.
• A non-returnable deposit of £50 will be required before the design stage to secure us as the client's website designer. An invoice will be sent when the full amount is due. This will be shortly before the website is due to go live or is provided on CD.
• Pages which require extra time to produce (due to image manipulation, search facilities etc.) will be charged our standard rate of £20 per hour above the cost of the pages. This service is charged in 10 minute intervals and will be itemised on the invoice.
• The website design, images and any scripts remain the property of Whitetree Web Studio until all monies outstanding are paid in full. In addition the completed website will not be uploaded onto the internet or provided on CD until all monies outstanding are paid in full.
• All images, copy (text) and other materials provided by the client must be copyright free and royality free as we cannot take responsibility for any copyright infringements. We reserve the right to refuse any material of a copyrighted nature unless adequate proof of permission is supplied to us by the client.

Hosting and Domain Names

• We use well established and reliable hosting companies to host our clients websites. However we cannot be held responsible for any interruptions or malfunctions to this service (including email), nor held liable for any loss of business or other losses incurred.

Promotion and SEO

• We provide a Free Standard Web Promotion service if we design and host the client's website. This service includes submitting the client's website details to the following: Google, Alta Vista, Lycos, Hotbot, MSN, AOL Search, All the Web, Netscape Search, the Open Directory and at least one local or national business directory if required.
• Extra web promotion or to promote an existing website on free directories and directories requiring payment will be charged at our standard maintenance rate of £20 per hour plus the cost required by the directory. This service is charged in 10 minute intervals and will be itemised on the invoice.

Maintenance

• 'Maintenance' is deemed to be updates or changes to existing pages to a live website. The addition of new pages will be charged at our page rate. If the new pages require a new design, the standard initial design page rate of £60 will be charged. All additional pages using this new design will be charged at £30 per page.
• Our standard maintenance rate is £20 per hour, charged in 10 minute intervals and will be itemised on the invoice.
• Maintenance Invoices will be sent at regular intervals. No further work will occur until the invoice has been paid in full, unless by prior agreement with Whitetree Web Studio.
